Keys to Success
We value the knowledge you have acquired, but we place an even higher value on effort and results. The Director has an enthusiastic dedication to EOH&S, and you should, too. While much of the local work will be done by local resources, you'll have plenty of chances to roll up your sleeves. Not only will you help out at the various data centers, but you also will have your own tactical responsibilities. The position will offer opportunities to contribute at the strategic level as well. You'll find that our approach is a bit unique. Compliance is important, but we believe that implementing impactful programs and promoting EOH&S as a core value will help us exceed compliance standards. That means you will need to establish yourself as a true partner to teams in the data centers, understanding their challenges, educating them, and helping them achieve their goals. There will be times when you'll need to push back, but overall a collaborative, consultative approach will be best.
Some people underestimate the importance, in EOH&S, of marketing -- presenting information to internal and external audiences in an engaging way. Digital Realty is committed to industry leadership in this area, and generating excitement helps get internal stakeholders on board, and gives our brand an edge in a highly competitive industry. This also means that all communications should be highly professional and polished.
This is a chance to get mentorship from a seasoned professional. At the same time, assuming you achieve your goals, we'll grant you autonomy in managing EOH&S in your region. Your efforts will need to align to the global strategy, of course. The Director will look for regular communication from you, so that he stays in the loop.
