While there is a lot of onsite work, you, along with four other Network Engineers seated at locations throughout the U.S., are supporting our entire network. Why Digital Realty

Professional development -- your primary focus, of course, will be your network responsibilities and day-to-day support.  In those daily duties, however, you’ll have the opportunity to broaden your skill set and further develop your talent, gaining experience in areas that are new to you.  In addition, we are committed to helping our people grow professionally, including providing training opportunities.

Career options – as demonstrated, this role can provide you with challenges and fulfillment.  If you jump in with both feet, and have the aptitude and ambition, there’s room to continue to build a career with Digital.  Our strong company growth will create advancement opportunities for strong performers.  For example, you could continue on this path and advance to a Network Engineer role, or pursue another path within IT.

Our investment-grade debt ratings provide us with access to capital to support the growth of our company, provide financing options for our customers, and continually invest in our properties.  Perhaps our strength is best demonstrated by the fact that our business continued to grow and thrive even through the recession.

Excellent compensation -- at Digital Realty we provide competitive pay and benefits programs to attract and retain top talent and sustain our position as an industry leader.  In addition to a strong salary and bonus incentive program, we offer a comprehensive package of benefits including a range of insurances such as medical, dental and life, a 401(k) plan, PTO and more.  Coverage takes effect the first of the month following your date of hire, or the first day if beginning work on the first of the month.

Keys to Success

To find success in this role, not only will you need your technical skills, you’ll need strong learning agility and the desire and motivation to continue to develop your talent. This isn’t a 9 to 5 role where you can fully plan your day and work your plan. At times the hours can be long and the pace is always fast. Initially, perhaps the most challenging aspect to the position is understanding where everything is and how it is supported. Our company is global with 60 to 70 sites, many in Singapore and other countries. Once you understand our setup it will be easier to grasp the scope of your position.

You’ll find your core attributes are as important as your skill. We’re all busy and working to our deadlines so you’ve got to be a person who can turn on a dime and calmly adjust when required. For example, perhaps you’re helping on a project with an end-of-month deadline and suddenly that deadline moves to the 15th. You’ll need to respond appropriately and effectively, moving the project faster without losing any quality. It takes a positive entrepreneurial attitude and drive. That doesn’t mean that every task is an emergency, but when it is, you must respond. To excel, you should not be afraid to take on a responsibility and should follow that task to the end.

In addition to your technical skills and drive, your communication and interpersonal skills will be central to your success. You should be able to communicate effectively with multiple levels and titles, and be someone with whom others want to work. There are a lot of talented people working at Digital Realty, and while we're strong in ability, we're low on ego. There is simply too much talent at work for anyone to believe that they hold the market as the top talent.
