Why Digital Realty

Professional development -- even if you have strong security experience, you'll learn new things in this role, as data center management is unique. In fact, we understand that there will be a learning curve, but you'll have the opportunity to take ownership of your learning and thoroughly learn elements of security compliance and data center businesses, and gain as much information through your role as possible. As we grow we'll be looking for proven performers to step up. From this role you could move into a variety of areas and positions within Digital Realty.

Visibility and impact -- in addition to working with key contacts across all levels and locations (including the IT Operations group and a team of contract Regional Managers), you'll also partner with a variety of external, third party contacts in order to ensure our contractors are abiding by our security policies and procedures. Because the team is small, your successes will be noticed. You’ll enjoy the satisfaction that comes with knowing your efforts positively impact company growth and your professional career.

Ideal time to join -- because your security efforts support properties throughout North America, you'll get unique learning opportunities that you might not have in a role supporting just one building site.

Great environment -- at Digital Realty you'll join a great team made up of diverse personalities in an easy-going but results oriented atmosphere. We value transparency and collaboration, and understand the value that each employee brings. You'll also enjoy working for a supervisor who, once you prove yourself, will give you the autonomy needed to thrive and excel in your role.

Stable profile -- our uncommonly strong balance sheet, investment-grade debt ratings and ability to borrow in multiple currencies provide a global footprint for our customers and risk-reducing diversification for us. That puts us in an excellent position to grow the company, provide financing options for our customers, and continually invest in our properties.

Green standard for sustainability -- we are committed to improving the performance and energy efficiency of our data centers through the creation, adoption and promotion of industry-leading best data center practices (pictured). Not only do we build to LEED and BREEAM certification requirements, but we also are pioneers in thinking about green data centers, including being a contributing member of The Green Grid.

Excellent compensation -- in addition to a competitive wage, we offer a comprehensive benefits package.

Keys to Success

To excel in this role, you’ll need to have an outstanding ability to work under pressure and shift priorities quickly, depending on the current needs of the business. This is a fast-paced environment where you may be called upon to produce a report or work on a new task with a tight deadline, but we’re looking for a professional who excels in this type of environment, and takes pride in their ability to work under pressure and multi-task. You’ll have the flexibility and skill to handle whatever comes up—whether it is a implementation project or developing a plan for new procedures and compliance initiatives.

Additionally, in order to be an outstanding Strategic Security Specialist, Portfolio Security, you will be a team player, and have an easygoing and adaptable personality. We have a small, close-knit security team, so we’re really looking for someone who can come in, and seamlessly become a part of our group from day one.

  • Achieve goals independently, but also know when to ask for help.
  • Remain open to learning new things, including the Digital Realty way of doing business.
  • Be willing to dig in to discover the cause of issues, and be creative in solving them.
  • Demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and pride in your work.
