The Requirements

We are open to candidates from various levels, from Senior Engineer to Senior Manager; the important thing is that you have the background and knowledge listed here. To be a good fit for this opportunity you will have:
  • A bachelor's degree and significant related experience and / or training; we also will consider non-degreed candidates with substantial and directly relevant experience.

  • A demonstrated ability to define standards, process and workflow around service implementation and delivery.
  • Proven knowledge of:
    • IP Services deployment peering and transit.
    • Ethernet and dark fiber.
    • Cisco and Juniper routing and switching.
    • Carrier implementation process and workflow.
  • Strong customer and vendor communications skills.
  • Database development experience as it relates to network and carrier inventory.
  • The ability to:
    • Comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex carrier contracts as well as AutoCAD, Visio and PDF documents.
    • Manage multiple parties effectively.
    • Develop negotiation standards and project tracking / management documents.
    • Estimate the cost of network related products and services, implement and monitor cost tracking methods for all projects, and track purchase order requests and invoices.
  • Knowledge of business rules, laws, codes, regulations and ordinances in regards to contract negotiations.
  • Professional certification, such as a CCNP or CCNA, is preferred.

The Role

Reporting to the Manager, Network Service Delivery, you will join a small team within Digital Realty focused on optimizing our connectivity strategy, including leveraging our relationships with multiple carriers, in order to expand existing accounts and attract new customers. The team includes one other Global Service Delivery Manager on the East Coast. This team is part of the new Connectivity group. Tailored solutions, branded as the Digital Realty EcoSystem, may provide connectivity within a single datacenter campus or may span multiple campuses.

Your mission will be to take a greenfield approach to identifying the workflow, leveraging your understanding of customer needs as well as carrier capabilities to establish processes and procedures for implementing these solutions. Once the process is established, you will take a hands-on approach to ordering services and overseeing implementation. You'll be involved from initially determining customer needs to post-implementation troubleshooting.

More specifically, you will:
  • Plan, implement, coordinate and provide the delivery of all carrier and ISP network and customer services, to include and not limited to lit services, IP services, Ethernet services, network and CPE equipment throughout the Digital Realty portfolio. Quick question for you - click here
  • Develop a database to extend the interface of Salesforce.com to manage customer and Digital Realty CPE assets, carrier connections, carrier and customer cross connects, term, CWD, contracts and costs across the entire Digital Realty portfolio.
  • Act as primary carrier resource for carrier engineers, property management teams and various Digital Realty groups.
  • Coordinate maintenance efforts with outside contractors, tenants, carriers and customers.
  • Develop relationships with customers, carriers, Product Marketing and Sales to identify new applications and services for customers.
  • Lead in coordination with product management for development and enhancement of all network and carrier service related products.
  • Develop and define IP hardware vendor relationship for CPE.
  • Develop and implement the process, workflow, standards and testing procedures for all carrier services for all customers within the Digital Realty portfolio.
  • Producing operating and capital budgets for all network services.
