The Requirements

To meet the basic qualifications for this role you will have:
  • An engineering degree and/or equivalent and 1 to 3 years of applicable experience
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship

To be a good fit you should also have:

  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD; you’ll be our go-to resource for creating, managing, organizing, updating, and distributing space planning CAD drawings 
  • Expert application software skills including AutoCAD, Visio, Acrobat, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point and any widely used graphics package; a working familiarity with SharePoint would also be helpful

  • Proficiency as a multitasker; you’ll be supporting multiple engineers, customers, and sales opportunities simultaneously
  • The ability to prioritize; we frequently deal with last minute requests and changes, and you’ll need to respond quickly and accurately while prioritizing and managing your existing workload
  • Great attention to detail and accuracy; getting things right the first time is essential
  • Proficiency in creating crisp presentations that are heavy on diagrams, and which communicate key details with intuitive and pleasing visuals
  • The desire to continuously learn and quickly apply technical and business concepts, including learning new software applications
  • Strong customer-facing skills, preferably developed in an engineering or sales role, and an ability to discuss technical details with confidence and understanding, as well as to understand the viewpoint of your customers, both internal and external
  • A strong understanding of the importance of our customers, and the importance of delivering high quality results to internal and external customers
  • Technical savvy, and a basic understanding of IT infrastructure needs
  • Impeccable writing skills, including grammatical precision

The Role

This new role has been created to provide streamlined and standardized support to the approximately 12-15 Sales Engineers and Senior Sales Engineers on the Sales Engineering team. Our team provides technical sales solutions to our customers, and at any given time you will be contributing to multiple sales efforts at various stages. You’ll need to take an active role, seeking out ways to contribute and opportunities to learn. You may be pulled in many directions, so you’ll also need to be great at multitasking and remaining organized, as well as prioritizing.

While the workload will vary, typical activities will include:
  • Organizing and producing up-to-date drawings/diagrams and technical content of all data center properties so that they are easily accessible by members of the Sales Engineering team
  • Providing technical input and support for RFP responses and data center leasing documents
  • Collaborating with Sales Engineers to create winning solutions and presentations for customer sales opportunities
  • Assisting to establish scopes of work to support customer requirements
  • Developing and standardizing sales opportunity property stacking plans for the Sales Engineering management team
  • Collaborating with our Bid Management team to continually improve the efficiency of Digital’s RFP process and ensuring technical content of our product offerings are current and up-to-date
  • Working closely with our Marketing department to ensure all technical aspects of Marketing collateral are correct and current
  • Performing and managing CFD modeling for customer-specific and spec build datacenters (training will be provided)
As this is a new role within the Sales Engineering team, you will also have many opportunities to help define your own responsibilities and contributions to the team. There will be many chances to shine and grow within our team and within our company.
