Why Digital Realty

Strategic and tactical impact -- in essence you will help Digital Realty move from "analog" to "digital" in terms of analytics, to become a truly data-driven organization. You'll drive the creation of dashboards and other best-in-class tools that are used day in and day out, and your efforts should influence our bottom line.

Unique, intriguing challenges -- you will work with a charismatic and people-centered leader in an environment of significant transformation. In addition to facilitating system and process improvements, you will help people embrace a new way of thinking about data, guiding them from, "How do we make the technology work?" to "How can we utilize the technology to solve problems and drive performance?"

Great culture -- at Digital Realty you'll join a great team made up of diverse personalities in an easy-going but results-oriented atmosphere. We value transparency and collaboration, and understand the value that each employee brings. We are collaborative and dedicated to quality and continuous improvement. We also provide development opportunities to help you achieve your career goals.

The "best of both worlds" -- you'll find that working for our company may be a little bit different. We are small enough, with only 800 employees across our global portfolio, that your hard work will be visible throughout the organization. At the same time, we are a growing global industry leader, meaning you'll have the resources and tools you need to excel in this role and beyond.

Stable profile -- our uncommonly strong balance sheet, investment-grade debt ratings and the ability to borrow in multiple currencies provide a global footprint for our customers and risk-reducing diversification for us. That puts us in an excellent position to grow the company, provide financing options for our customers, and continually invest in our properties.

Green standard for sustainability -- we are committed to improving the performance and energy efficiency of our data centers through the creation, adoption and promotion of industry-leading best data center practices. Not only do we build to LEED and BREEAM certification requirements, but we also are pioneers in thinking about green data centers, including being a contributing member of The Green Grid.

Excellent compensation -- in addition to competitive compensation, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental and vision plans; flexible spending plans for multiple purposes; a health savings account; a 401(k) plan with company match and much more.

Keys to Success

You will need technical savvy, but a key competency for this role will be an understanding of business processes -- a background as a Business Analyst would be very helpful. Equally important will be interpersonal and leadership skills. You'll have the "Director" title, but you will need to be able to work cross-functionally using influence. Charisma would be an asset.

You'll manage change at both the process and cultural levels, so you will need to help people embrace the new approach and understand how it will help them be more effective and efficient. To excel in this role you will be impatient with the status quo, but you'll also need to work collaboratively, helping groups make the right decisions and reach consensus. You'll need to take the time to understand where we are today, define where we want to be tomorrow, and lead people there.

No one will hand you a playbook, so you will need to balance your analytical skills with creativity, and be comfortable with a degree of ambiguity. You should be willing to take risks, but only after careful consideration. The role will require drive and energy, as well as flexibility and adaptability.
