The Requirements

To meet the basic qualifications for this role you will have:
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.
  • A verifiable bachelor's degree. An MBA or other advanced degree is preferred.

  • Experience designing and implementing systems for compensation and/or benefits management.
  • Experience preparing materials for presentation to a board of directors; experience directly presenting to and interacting with a board is a plus.
  • Understanding of federal, state and local laws as they pertain to HR practices.

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, you will provide leadership to a team that includes three manager-level resources; two are in place and you will bring on the third.

Your mission will be to assess, design and implement the compensation & benefits functions throughout the overall organization, implementing programs, policies and processes that support a global performance-driven culture.   • The organization's benefits programs, which may include negotiating coverage and costs with carriers.
  • Incentive plan and equity plan design and administration for the organization, as necessary.
Your specific responsibilities will fall into four main areas. Developing, leading and managing the Total Rewards Program will include:
  • Evaluating salary administration guidelines and compensation philosophy aligned with culture and in support of organization goals.
  • Evaluating new positions and creating job ranges and grade levels.
  • Reviewing and analyzing operational and sales incentive plans for effectiveness annually, including comparison against market to ensure competitiveness.
  • Managing and ensuring cost-effective implementation of total rewards and recognition programs.
  • Directing and overseeing compensation and HRIS staff in the analysis of market data, salary structures and competitive salaries within other companies.
  • Actively leading/supporting improvements through more effective deployment of technology and processes. This will include partnering internally with various organizations to leverage HR data, as well as ensuring timely and effective management of a variety of legacy systems.
  • Participating in national compensation surveys and utilizing the results to continually monitor the competitiveness of Digital Realty’s programs.
With regard to developing, leading and managing the benefit programs, you will:
  • Assume responsibility for reviewing programs, suggesting modifications, and ensuring achievement of competitive market position and other goals identified by the organization.
  • Manage and evaluate consultants and benefits vendors to ensure deadlines are met and negotiate competitive rates.
  • Ensure benefit programs support the Company’s strategic objectives by remaining knowledgeable of the key business goals.
Strategizing, designing and communicating compensation and benefits programs, both nationally and in the local markets, will involve:
  • Partnering with the CHRO and communications team to develop, execute, and communicate key benefits and compensation programs.
  • Providing counsel to HR Business Partners, Managers, and Talent Acquisition regarding compensation issues.
  • And other activities as necessary.
Ensuring the company is in compliance with all compensation and benefit laws and regulations, including: Understanding and complying with all requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
  • Complying with applicable legal requirements, standards, policies and procedures including, but not limited to, the Compliance Program: Code of Conduct, HIPAA and Documentation Standards.
  • Evaluating the compensation and benefits programs to improve the organizations’ recruitment and retention rates.
