Requirements

- 4-6 years of substantive legal experience with some combination of law firm and corporate legal department exposure.
- Experience with commercial transactions.
- Excellent work ethic and organizational skills.
- Willing to work on a broad variety of legal and business matters.
- Friendly, approachable, professional demeanor and disposition with a corresponding level of maturity.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively.
- Ability to act with sound business judgment in ambiguous situations.
- Able to manage numerous projects simultaneously under deadline pressure.
The Role
Reporting to the Associate General Counsel, you will be one of three attorneys on a strong, experienced legal team that includes one paralegal.Understanding our business is not crucial, you will learn it as you go; having proven legal knowledge and skills is.
The majority of your work will be broken down into these three areas:
- Customer Agreements – This is where you will spend the bulk of your time. You will handle the review, drafting, and negotiation. You may also be involved in the audit and maintenance of the customer agreement database. Quick question for you - click here
- Vendor Agreements – You will review, draft and negotiate vendor contracts.
- Real Estate Issues – You will assist with real estate transactions (both internal and external) including the preparation and review of real estate lease documents and associated transactional documents. You will also provide support on regulatory and audit compliance.
One of the more challenging components of this role is learning how to interact with a wide variety of personalities. You will work closely with our sales team and with our customers; as in any environment, some are easier than others. Many customers are tech companies who do this on a regular basis. They are very knowledgeable about colocation and will know their way around the agreements. Other clients will ask a lot of questions. We will look to you to learn how to balance who the customer is against their needs and their points and serve them well while protecting our organization.
With both the sales team and our customers there are times you will need to hold firm; knowing when to do so will be an important component of your learning process. Equally important is knowing when and to whom to escalate a situation. Having good judgment is an absolute requirement for this role.
More specifically, you will:
- Interact with Telx sales people, customer business people, opposing counsel and various internal stakeholders.
- Review and improve standard form agreements and legal processes.
- Support the Legal Team in all aspects in the provision of legal services to internal clients.
- Work on other projects as required by management.
