Why Telx & Digital Realty

Broad exposure -- at most organizations Sales Engineers are siloed into a specific area of focus, and interact with only a fraction of the company's functional areas. Here, it's just the opposite: you'll work with just about all our departments, from Real Estate to Asset Management to Accounting. You'll be involved in virtually all aspects of the sales cycle, from gathering requirements and vetting information to conducting Web seminars and facility tours. You'll also interact with people at various levels at diverse customer organizations, from Network Engineers to C-level executives. This will make it possible for you to establish a large and robust professional network.

Professional development -- we are looking for someone who wants to grow with the department and with the company--and it's safe to say that this is a role where you will never be bored. In fact, you'll have the opportunity to take the lead on special projects and your efforts will be noticed throughout the organization. Once you have mastered this role you may take on new responsibilities, and we're always looking for strong performers to move up within the company.

Robust training -- you'll spend a significant amount of time shadowing another Sales Engineer (most likely in New York) and as soon as you are comfortable, you will hit the ground running. We'll give you the foundation of training, support and resources you need to succeed.

Exciting time to join -- with the acquisition of Telx, Digital Realty adds robust colocation, strategic network dense connectivity, a vast and open partner ecosystem and unmatched freedom of choice to one of the world’s largest data center footprints.

The “best of both worlds” -- you'll find that working for our company may be a little bit different. On one hand we are small enough, with only 1,200 employees across our global portfolio, that your hard work will be visible throughout the organization.  On the other, our extensive offering of services and solutions and proven track record of growth, stability and industry-leading innovation give you opportunities to expand the knowledge and skills you need to take your career to the next level.

Unique culture -- we are a collaborative, people-focused company dedicated to quality and continuous improvement. When you become a member of our team, you receive our commitment to your continued development and support.

Strong foundation -- our financial strength and stability provide our customers with the assurance that Digital Realty and Telx will be their partner for current data center needs and those in the future, and our investment credit ratings provide us access to paths for more capital. We view each of our customers as a long-term partner.

Green standard for sustainability -- we are committed to improving the performance and energy efficiency of our data centers through the creation, adoption and promotion of industry-leading best data center practices and experience. We are pioneers in thinking about green data centers and are also a Contributing Member of The Green Grid.

Pictured: our top compensation and benefits programs help us attract, retain, motivate and reward top talent in a variety of areas, including engineering, property management, sales, clients services, and more.

Keys to Success

To find success in this role you will need exceptional customer-facing skills, including the ability to articulate that big picture and how we pull all the pieces together to deliver to expectations -- they won't see all that's behind the scenes, but they'll appreciate the peace of mind that comes from knowing it's all there. At the same time, if the conversation during a customer tour goes into detail, you'll be able to "get granular" and respond to all but the most technical of questions. To sum it up, we are looking for a person who knows when to get technical and when to keep the conversation at the high-level overview. Quick question for you - click here

Chicago is a very active market, and we’re looking for a driven professional who can help our sales reps move the inventory. You'll serve as a liaison between many different stakeholders, bringing synergy to the process. A background in the networking side of the IT environment will be helpful as you talk to the customer in “their language.”
