Critical Role Leading Compliance and Quality Control Programs within Digital Realty’s Operations Organization to Ensure Consistency across our Global Platform

The Requirements

To meet the basic qualification for this role you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. To be a good fit for the Director, Compliance & Quality Control opportunity you will also have:

  • Advanced knowledge of Quality Control principles, concepts, industry practices, and standards
  • Deep knowledge of external compliance programs (e.g. ISO, PCI, SOC2)
  • Advanced knowledge of global regulatory compliance guidelines
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office Suite applications
  • Exposure to facility management, maintenance and/or security protocols is ideal 
  • A bachelor’s degree

The Role

Reporting to the Vice President, Portfolio Operations, as Director, Compliance & Quality Control, you will manage two direct reports (one in the U.S. and one in Europe) supporting external compliance programs. You will be responsible for overseeing all elements of our external compliance activities, in conjunction with your team, mitigating risk, helping site teams prepare for audits, reporting findings and more. In performing your role, you will leverage the breadth of your compliance system and reporting knowledge, including ISO, PCI and SOC2. Additionally, you will implement, lead and manage all internal programs, ensuring standardization and consistency across the portfolio, including global properties.

You'll work heavily with leadership, site teams, consultants and other stakeholders as you create a standardized platform of checks and balances, ensure consistent execution, identify non-compliance risks and solutions and deliver quality reporting. You'll build quality systems that can scale as we grow, and add to your team as required to meet the demands of our rapid growth. Additionally, you'll work directly with our customers' teams as required to meet their needs.     

More specifically, providing strategic, tactical and operational guidance you will:

  • Provide leadership in ensuring continuous compliance with all applicable internal and external regulations, standards, policies, and procedures related to the quality, regulatory status, and performance of Company operations, processes, and products
  • Ensure the Company is kept current with all new quality-related regulatory requirements, and provide guidance to senior and operational management on the implications of any new or updated requirements
  • Maintain a world-class quality management system by directing, and providing oversight and input into the relevant quality systems and standards including:
    • Change control 
    • Documentation systems
    • Quality procedures, standards, and policies
    • Product complaints
    • Quality system reporting, and other related areas
  • Coordinate activities and lead interactions during regulatory agency inspections and notified third-party audits
  • Adjudicate issues with compliance concerns
  • Schedule and supervise scheduled third-party audits by internal QC staff or external contractors
  • Provide feedback to operational department heads regarding audits, plans, findings, and issue resolution
  • Lead and direct QC staff in the preparation of the quality components of global regulatory submissions
  • Ensure that company and departmental SOPs, job descriptions, and training documentation are current and relevant
  • Manage final review and approval of Master Batch Records, Manufacturing Batch Records, SOPs, Change Control Documentation, Audit Reports, Validation Documentation, Product Specifications, Analytical Methods, and Contractor Qualifications
  • Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for acquisition or optimization of new or existing products, processes, techniques, procedures or facilities/equipment to ensure compliance with quality criteria
  • Prepare, review, and approve departmental budget and capital expenditures
  • Support the Company’s project teams and assist with project scheduling to assure that timelines and deadlines are met in the most efficient and economical manner
  • Provide regular updates and recommendations to Digital Realty’s senior management team regarding the status of objectives, projects, and goals relative to quality compliance objectives
  • Hire, manage, and develop QC staff and secure sufficient resources to support the company’s goals and objectives
