The ideal candidate for this senior sales role will have a history of success and established relationships built by selling networking, colocation and/or data center solutions to users of communications networks who need to interconnect. To meet the basic qualification for this role you will have:
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.
To be a strong fit for the role of Senior Account Executive, Network Solutions, you will have:

  • Direct sales experience in the telecommunications industry, preferably working for or selling to a telecom network service providers
  • Experience in the domestic and international networking and communications space 
  • Knowledge of Cloud, Compute, Storage, IaaS, Telephony, Mobile Services, Content Distribution, Media Content, IP Peering, and network infrastructure
  • Knowledge of technical aspects of space and power within the data center space
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to analyze complex problems and present strong solutions
  • Strong self-motivation, and an independent work style with superior lead generation skills
  • Excellent professional and personal references
Preferred but not required:
  • A bachelor’s degree (highly desirable) 
  • Technical selling experience requiring cross functional coordination of Engineering, Product, Marketing and Operations teams

You will work an extended territory including Chicago, Illinois and key markets in the surrounding Midwest states. Our preference is that you are based in the Chicago area.

The Role

Reporting to the VP, Network Solutions Sales, your mission will be to sell Telx Network Solutions products and services to achieve and exceed sales targets by growing existing business and developing new business opportunities in the following verticals: traditional telecom/carriers, cable companies, social, mobile, analytics (big data), content, and cloud. You’ll employ a consultative sales approach across all levels of the customer decision-making spectrum, with a keen focus on developing executive level customer relationships. You'll be free to sell across our entire portfolio of Network Solutions and services -- anything from 1/2 rack to full cages and including space in any of our locations.
 
On a day-to-day basis, you will use your strong hunting skills to identify and close new business opportunities (approximately 75% initially). You'll also focus on growing existing business (25%) through repeat business and new products. Quick question for you - click here There is a good deal of untapped potential within the current portfolio, so you'll begin meeting your customers and building relationships early on. The majority of the existing business is in Chicago, where you'll be based, but you will cover all of Illinois and the surrounding states – most of the Midwest – also focusing on other key markets. Specifically, you will: 
  • Target companies including:
    • Network providers needing interconnectivity – everyone from traditional Telecoms to anyone selling network services (voice, data, Internet, wireless, cloud, satellite, MSOs.)
    • SaaS, Big Data, eCommerce, MMOs
    • Content, social media, etc.
  • Oversee customer satisfaction of Telx customers including interfacing with internal departments including Provisioning, Operations, Finance and Marketing
  • Negotiate pricing and commercial terms directly with customers
  • Lead order entry process including completion of order forms and other contractual work to close opportunities; ensure approvals and acceptances are completed
  • Manage customer satisfaction in both pre- and post-sales environment
  • Manage Account Planning, including positioning matrix, revenue forecasting and opportunity management 
  • Manage opportunity funnel in Salesforce.com
  • Prospecting for new Telx customers through direct outbound efforts, working with Telx partners and attending industry trade shows
