The Requirements

To meet the basic qualification for this role you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. To be a good fit for the Manager, Remote Hands Services opportunity, you also should have:

The Role

Overview - Your Team
Reporting to the Data Center Manager, as Manager, Remote Hands Services, you will work within the Operations and Services team and directly supervise 5 technicians working at our Seattle data center. Quick question for you - click here The team is strong and capable, so your duties will fall more in line with reinforcement and mentorship, rather than bringing members up to speed. Of course, we're growing and you could add new team members later, so should be effective working with a mix of talent and skill levels. You will typically work Monday through Friday business hours, but should also be flexible and able to be on call as needed 24/7. 

Hands-on Leadership
This is a hands-on leadership role, so in addition to your management responsibilities, you will serve as the lead and primary point of contact for the facility’s customers, ensuring their requirements/demands are met as contracted and expected. Requirements might include remote hands support, racking and stacking of network devices, cabling, cross connects, security, power and cooling infrastructures. It won't be uncommon for you to roll up your sleeves and work alongside your team. In order meet your responsibilities, it's essential that you are well versed on network related installation and customer technical support. 
Internally, you will also manage work flow between Engineering, the Telx Command Center (TCC), and Project Management to ensure all installations meet delivery dates and create a positive customer experience.  

Specifically, you and/or your staff will:
  • Oversee Remote Hands services which are tracked through Tech Support Tickets (TST). This includes, but is not limited to the following services:
    • Equipment Rack and Stack
    • Cable, terminate, and dress fiber or copper network cabling
    • Assist with the diagnosis of hardware and software  
    • Power cycling of customer equipment
    • Perform cabinet/cage audits
    • Blade/Card, Memory, Hard Drive, and Transceiver installations or removal
    • Testing and troubleshooting of copper and fiber optic circuits
    • Perform migrations of equipment, power, or networking devices
    • Shipping and receiving of packages
  • Assist with the daily operations of Mechanical and Electrical infrastructure to ensure 100% uptime
  • Assist Security staff and oversee the proper operation of the Telx Access Control System
  • Perform and oversee Preventative Maintenance on the critical infrastructure.
  • Oversee the receipt, install, and testing of customer and internal cross connects of copper and fiber optic interconnections 
  • Provide and oversee timely customer and internal updates using a computer based ticketing system
  • Monitor the facility’s critical infrastructure (including mechanical cooling, UPS, Generator, and Access Control Systems) and respond to outages in a timely manner using EOPs.
  • Perform facility audits to ensure compliance with SOC2, PCI, and HIPPA.
  • Perform and document inventory verification/counts. 
  • Monitor the Data Center’s mission critical infrastructure and network by utilizing EPMS, Fieldview, Aperture and FNT.
  • Oversee and perform infrastructure builds including:
    • Cages
    • Cabinets
    • Relay Racks
    • Ladder Racking and Basket Tray
    • Fiber Trough
  • Oversee DC power installations per Facility Engineering design specifications
  • Assist the Manager – Data Center and Manager - Regional Operations with training and the transfer of knowledge to all Data Center Technicians local and remote. 
  • Oversee the maintenance and overall Data Center cleanliness and appearance
  • Work flexible shift schedules
  • Provide rotational on-call coverage
  • Report to the facility within a 1 hour average for emergency outage assistance
