The Requirements

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong technical background (i.e. gained via a past operations, design, engineering or similar role) in order to deliver client requirements and expectations to our tech teams. Qualifications

  • Experience in technology environments, ideally with data centers, telecom, network or similar services.

The Role

You will be one of the first Data Center Technical Account Manager on a team that will serve key accounts by acting as a liaison between the client and our tech teams. This initiative has already seen success and we anticipate that the team will grow. Individually your high-reaching mission will be to drive client satisfaction and account growth. Collectively, as a member of the team, you will help drive the initiative forward as we productize the team's function. 

Typically, you will work directly with assigned existing clients, becoming an expert on each client’s goals, needs and expectations. You’ll then work with internal teams to meet client parameters, creating a plan, removing obstacles and taking point on conversations between technical resources and the client. It will be your role to champion the client while also ensuring that Digital Realty’s interests are protected.

This is an exciting new initiative and you will work with some of our top clients. Eventually, we expect to have ample resources across all three U.S. regions (east, central, & west), however, you will enter on the ground floor as the third member of the team, including your supervisor, the Implementation Program Manager, and one other Data Center Technical Account Manager. You will typically be assigned East Coast accounts, but will travel and manage assets beyond your region. You will focus on fitouts and depending upon size and complexity, typically manage between one and four projects at a time. As already noted, this is a liaison role for someone with a calm demeanor, professional polish and the ability build outstanding client relationships – you should be the first one the client calls in all interactions, be they positive or negative.

Your main objectives will include:
  • Acting as a client advocate and coordinating with multiple internal departments, including Sales, Accounting, Implementation, Legal, Technology, Product Management, Portfolio Management, and Customer Service.
  • Understanding each client's strategic initiatives, as well as those of Digital Realty, and ensuring that sound decisions are being made in order to deliver quality service.
  • Identifying revenue opportunities within existing clients and through referrals.
  • Suggesting improvements to processes and procedures to ensure established goals are met.
  • Taking a proactive approach to client relationship management and handling issues in an efficient and professional manner, both internally and externally, to achieve client satisfaction.
On an ongoing basis you will:
  • Work as client’s primary point of contact for the entire Digital Realty relationship (e.g. User, Manager, Technical, Legal).
  • Act as the primary point of contact to specific clients, managing the overall and day-to-day business.
  • Lead strategic discussions with clients and interact with executives at the C-Suite level; run periodic client meetings.
  • Establish sound partnerships with clients to determine current and future needs for growth.
  • Develop and manage ongoing relationships with client contacts.
  • Recommend best practices based on industry/other clients.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of client product configurations to ensure maximum value.
  • Respond to client inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Ensure contract billing is correctly administered.
  • Initiate renewal strategy and process.
  • Work on client projects as assigned by Digital Realty.
  • Effectively delegate administrative and tactical items.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional areas and lead projects on behalf of the client (e.g. implementation initiatives, product support, etc.).
  • Develop and maintain strategic account plans across businesses.
  • Identify up-sell opportunities and generate sales leads.
  • Assume responsibility for total client satisfaction of assigned clients, as measured in quality survey results and client retention.
  • Solicit feedback from clients regarding satisfaction and suggestions for enhancements; escalate items as necessary.
  • Work to improve processes, procedures, and documentation to improve the effectiveness of the services provided.
In the area of product and program administration, you will:
  • Proactively identify solutions that will assist the client.
  • Collaborate with the client and make recommendations for more efficient use of existing solutions.
  • Partner with Sales in pursuing new business opportunities, including playing a key role in new business onboarding for strategic clients.
  • Facilitate Statement of Work (SOW).
  • Oversee program launches and changes.
  • Manage client program completions.
  • Conduct new client product training and retraining of existing clients.
  • Prepare and facilitate end-of-year reviews for selected accounts.
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of Digital Realty's products and clients' implemented products/processes/data.
  • Maintain and track appropriate account information in Salesforce and SharePoint.
  • Build best practices for expansion of the program to all Digital Realty customers.
