The Requirements
To meet the basic qualifications for this role you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. To be a good fit for the Billing Specialist opportunity, you also should have:- A bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. We also will consider non-degreed candidates with significant relevant experience.
- 2 to 4 years of experience in accounting and/or finance, including experience in billing or accounts receivable.
- General knowledge of accounting terms and concepts (debits, credits, etc.).

- Familiarity with Salesforce is a plus.

The Role
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Billing, you will join a team that includes two Senior Billing Specialists and two other Billing Specialists. You will support a specific set of data center locations. In this role you will focus on three key activities:- Ensuring invoicing for Telx's colocation services are completed accurately and on-time.
- Processing and calculating billing consistent with company policy and procedure.
- Preparing and reviewing billing activity reports, and discussing them with management.
More specifically, you will:
- Issue monthly billing for assigned company locations.
- If there are no changes, an invoice that is similar to previous month will be issued from the billing system:
- Run a preliminary batch and compare against Sales Analysis Report, in order to make sure billing changes are properly captured.
- Check Escalation Report for eventual applicable increases (calculate manually).
- Check the Disconnect Report and manually remove disconnected items.
- Check the De-Install Report and process accordingly.
- Verify and process all approved deliveries*, so the revenue can be captured correctly and timely.
- Process the billing in the system and send the invoices to customers in the manner requested by them.
- Process Monthly Cross Connect deliveries.
- Confirm that the Senior Billing Manager has approved the upload of the monthly Technical Service Ticket invoices, and then send invoices to customers.
- Check new deliveries daily:
- For one-time charges, verify the accuracy of charges and convert delivery into an invoice.
- If there are both recurring and one-time charges, prorate the recurring charge and save data to system for future monthly invoicing.
- Process approved credits and adjust monthly invoices.
- Prepare and analyze various variance analysis reports, credit reports etc., and review findings and action items with your manager.
- Prepare special invoices, such as initial payment invoices, security deposit invoices, etc.
