The Requirements

To meet the basic qualification for this role you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. To be a good fit for the Provisioner opportunity, you also should have:
  • An associate's degree or higher in Business or Technology.
  • 3+ years of experience in a Telecom Provisioner or related role; experience also with data centers/colocation is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in facility provisioning and circuit design.
  • Knowledge of IXC/CLEC/inter-company operations and procedures.
  • Familiarity with SONET, TDM transmission, DWDM, and Ethernet technologies.
  • Knowledge of Ethernet circuit provisioning.

  • Customer service experience is preferred but not required.
  • Relevant professional certification, such as SONET or Cisco, is a plus.

You also will need to be willing and able to travel, on occasion, to field sites to perform facility audits to ensure accurate customer facility inventory. However, we don't anticipate you will travel more than about 10% of the time.

The Role

Reporting to the Provisioning Manager, you will join a team of 10 Provisioners who are based in different parts of the country. Your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Generating accurate circuit designs to be documented on interconnection work orders sent to customers for review and technicians for execution. Quick question for you - click here
  • Learning and understanding our business model and daily operation.
  • Tracking all interconnection work orders from creation by the Provisioner to execution by the Technician.
  • Generating and maintaining accurate customer interconnection inventories and communicating availability to customers.
  • Complying with all emergency, safety and security procedures.
  • Providing assistance to other company management as required.
The workload will vary, and we are proactive about distributing it among the team so that no one is swamped. At the same time, in a typical day you may have a few work orders or as many as 30.

More specifically, you will:
  • Generate circuit design work orders and provide physical paths to technicians for installation.
  • Accurately design the most optimal circuit route based on the customer provided CFA and LOA within the Provisioning database.
  • Review customer cross connect and disconnect requests utilizing a web-based ticketing system.
  • Ensure accuracy of customer interconnection inventory.
  • Learn and understand our business model through review of marketing materials.
  • Provide prompt updates on customer requests and ensure that any applicable SLAs are met.
  • Interface with customers, carriers, service providers and staff to resolve interconnection Work Order issues, and ensure accurate documentation of instructions and circuit designs for timely completion of work.
  • Design cross connects that have a network element that will allow technicians to test the circuit with the customer or carrier.
  • Decipher the type of cross connect that has been requested in order to properly invoice the customer for services rendered.
  • Verify customer-specific terms and apply them to our suite of products.
  • Update customer and/or Client Services when more interconnection capacity is needed within the Meet Me Area (MMA).
  • Perform periodic audits on customer inventory and update the Provisioning Database accordingly.
  • Review and reconcile the customer invoice as it relates to interconnection inventory.
  • Work with Engineering to maintain adequate capacity on all company active and passive transport devices.
  • Comply with all emergency, safety and security procedures to ensure an optimal work environment.

To excel in this role you will demonstrate initiative in learning our process flow and databases so you can get up to speed quickly. You'll also need to get to know our customers and their preferences. While direct customer interaction won't be frequent, when you do reach out, you'll need to be specific and clear in your communication.
