The Requirements

To meet the basic qualifications for this role you will have:
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship
  • Construction industry accounting experience (e.g. General Contractor, Construction Accounting, etc.)
To be a good fit for the Staff Construction Accountant opportunity, you also should have:
  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or the equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience

This role will be based in our Dallas office. You will work a Monday through Friday day shift, with starting flexibility between 8 and 9 am and ending between 5 and 5:30 pm. While Digital Realty believes in work/life balance, at times you'll need to work beyond typical work hours to meet your responsibilities. Additionally, when you are first hired, you should be able to travel to San Francisco for a week of training. 

The Role

Position Overview
Reporting to the Director of Construction Accounting, you will join a team including five Construction Accountants, two Directors and a VP. The Construction Accountants will work on capital construction projects -- we are a company undergoing tremendous ongoing growth -- and as Staff Construction Accountant, you will focus on customer driven development. Once a Data Center is built, the Tenant Improvement (TI) program can take over and trigger a build out within the center. The complexity and size of that build-out will depend upon individual client's needs. You will be involved full cycle with each program, from design to build to billing and tenant occupancy. 

The Daily Details
As Staff Construction Accountant, you will be responsible for the processing of transactions relating to Digital Realty’s reimbursable Tenant Improvement Program within the Yardi job costing module. You will work directly with multiple internal stakeholders to provide support for customer billing and collection processes, and be responsible for the preparation of periodic reporting pertaining to reimbursable projects, including variance analyses, outstanding A/R, etc. You will ensure smooth workflow and processing so that no element of the process becomes fragmented or slow moving. It's important to note, that while you may be involved in the large/overall development project, your main focus will be on the customer driven scope within the development project.

Specifically, you will:
  • Process job cost transactions on a portfolio of tenant improvement projects
  • Coordinate with Design & Construction and Customer Operations teams in preparation of monthly progress billings to DLR’s customers

This position is located in our Dallas location, while the rest of the Construction Accounting Team is located in San Francisco. In Dallas, you will work alongside Portfolio and Property Accountants, and your supervisor and the VP visit regularly.
