Why Digital Realty

Important, visible role
As the "face" of Implementation Services in Santa Clara, you will influence our relationships with customers and showcase our ability to deliver on commitments. You'll be managing both colo and Scale projects, and you'll operate in a market that promises to be unique and dynamic -- you'll have a good deal of autonomy and be able to shape your role. We're forecasting incredible growth in this market and your success will be visible to our senior leaders.

Professional development
We know you'll bring strong experience and knowledge to this role, but given the diversity and volume of projects, you're bound to learn new things. Our success depends upon staying on the leading edge, so you will learn new technologies and best practices along with the rest of us. The talents that make you successful in this role -- leadership, technical savvy, budgeting, etc. -- are the kinds of things we look for when advancement opportunities open up.

The "best of both worlds"
You'll find that working for our company may be a little bit different. We are small enough, with only 1400 employees across our global portfolio, that your hard work will be visible throughout the organization. Yet our extensive offering of services and solutions, and proven track record of growth, stability and industry-leading innovation, give you the resources and tools you need to take your career to the next level.

Strong foundation
Our financial strength and stability provide our customers with the assurance that Digital Realty will be their partner for current data center needs and those in the future, and our investment credit ratings provide us access to paths for more capital. We view each of our customers as a long-term partner.

Premium portfolio
The Ashburn campus is the flagship for Digital Realty's Eastern properties. The portfolio enjoys a good deal visibility and the property count across the campus continues to grow. It's a great place to learn our company and stretch your skills.

Green standard for sustainability
At Digital Realty we are committed to improving the performance and energy efficiency of our data centers through the creation, adoption and promotion of industry-leading best data center practices and experience. We are pioneers in thinking about green data centers, as well as, adopting and building to LEED and BREEAM certification requirements. We are also a Contributing Member of The Green Grid.

Excellent compensation
In addition to a competitive wage and discretionary bonus potential, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes all you would expect plus some pleasant surprises, like multiple flexible spending plans, a generous company match on the 401(k) plan, and more.

Keys to Success

This role calls for a unique combination of knowledge and experience, covering both the infrastructure side and the construction side, along with the panache to manage customer relationships. We've already stated it, but it's important enough to repeat: you'll need high energy and excellent organizational skills to manage multiple simultaneous projects, all with firm deadlines. You'll be involved in every aspect of each project, from concept to client move-in.

Just as important as your technical skills will be your interpersonal and communication abilities. You will coordinate among a number of internal and external stakeholders, and you'll need to promote collaboration while also holding people accountable. As you probably already know, there will be tough conversations -- you may need to be assertive in holding vendors to deadlines or diplomatic in managing client expectations. You should be as comfortable interacting with installation crews and contractors as you are presenting to C-suite executives.

This is a hybrid role that's a little different from other positions in Implementation Services, and you should be prepared to assume the role of subject matter expert as you support projects in other areas of the U.S. For the most part, the primary Project Manager will be looking to you for insight into managing Scale projects, although there may be other scenarios as well. In these situations, you'll generally be an advisor, but you may also take on direct leadership responsibilities.
