ServiceNow has been rolled out for IT Service Management for a few years within our organization. However, best practices were not applied from the beginning, and we’re looking for a strong, skilled ServiceNow guru to make this system the best it can be. You will look for issues with the initial configuration, and work to reduce complexity, figure out how to do everything better, help ensure we are ITIL aligned, and get us to the next level with our ServiceNow usage.

Day to day, you’ll work on release management and platform administration, including back-testing existing functionality, as well as troubleshooting and break fix. You’ll also develop workflows within the platform, coordinating with internal groups to help solve their problems using ServiceNow functionality. If needed, you’ll create custom scripts or coordinate with external development teams, though the goal is to solve issues primarily by enabling configurations that already exist so that we don’t become too customized. You’ll also be responsible for completing documentation throughout any new development.

Though there are no other dedicated team members for ServiceNow in IT, we do have others within the organization who have system knowledge, who you could turn to when you want to discuss ideas and solutions. Most of your time will be heads-down at your desk, but you also need to be comfortable interacting with teams, interfacing with internal customers, and using strong communication skills to keep everyone in the loop.

Some of your specific tasks will be to:
  • Install, maintain, configure, and support hosted ServiceNow instances, production and non-production.
  • Complete maintenance coding for Asset, Change, Problem, Incident and Service Request modules.
  • Assist in conceptualizing, designing, and maturing ITIL v3 processes and enterprise CMDB.
  • Engage in relationship management, including day to day support of application.
  • Ensure that the services requests for new users, reports, and other requests from IT and other organizations as they related to ServiceNow work, are being prioritized and completed.
  • Manage relationships with other teams and peers.
  • Work with internal customers and requesting organizations to understand incidents and ensure quality service is provided.
  • Manage incidents/problems related to the ServiceNow platform.
  • Provide estimates for project requests.
  • Manage expectations and help prioritize production support and projects across disparate organizations.
  • Communicate with senior management and project management on plans, status, risks and issues.
Note: this description is intended to give you a general overview of the position and is not an exhaustive listing of duties and responsibilities.

More Good Reasons

Autonomy, support & flexibility
You’ll enjoy a good deal of autonomy in managing your responsibilities, but we also follow protocols and a strong teamwork model. In essence, you’ll have support when you need it and “elbow room” when you don’t. Once you’re fully acclimated you may also have the opportunity to work from home on occasion.

Professional development
Naturally, you’ll come in with solid system admin experience and a track record of success with managing ServiceNow. Working with the newest ServiceNow releases will give you exposure to the newest platform developments, and you’ll gain exposure to a variety of modules that you may not have seen at other organizations. We will help support your learning as you grow in the role.

Career options
Digital Realty is a rapidly growing and advancing organization, providing opportunities for our proven performers. You could advance in this role, or depending on your performance and ambition, you might leverage your success in this role to pursue other opportunities within the company. The IT department is growing and developing, and the company recognizes the need for expansion in the department, which has presented a number of opportunities. Some opportunities may require relocation.

Unique culture
We are a collaborative, people-focused group dedicated to quality and continuous improvement. When you become a member of our team, you will receive our commitment to your continued development and support. We strive to promote a friendly, fun and open work environment, and our dedication to this is reflected in the tenure of our employees.

The “best of both worlds”
You’ll find that working for our company may be a little bit different. We are small enough, with only 1400 employees across our global portfolio, that your hard work will be visible throughout the organization. However, our extensive offering of services and solutions and proven track record of growth, stability and industry-leading innovation give you the resources and tools you need to take your career to the next level.

Stable profile
Our uncommonly strong balance sheet, investment-grade debt ratings and the ability to borrow in multiple currencies provide a global footprint for our customers and risk-reducing diversification for us. That puts us in an excellent position to grow the company, provide financing options for our customers, and continually investing in our properties.

Green standard for sustainability
We are committed to improving the performance and energy efficiency of our data centers through the creation, adoption and promotion of industry-leading best data center practices. Not only do we build to LEED and BREEAM certification requirements, but we also are pioneers in thinking about green data centers, including being a contributing member of The Green Grid.

Excellent compensation
In addition to competitive compensation, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental and vision plans; flexible spending plans for multiple purposes; a health savings account; a 401(k) plan with company match and much more.

Pictured: from Dublin (top) to Singapore (bottom), Digital Realty is about removing limits to global business. Through our seamless, interconnected global network we offer more open data center service choices than anyone, including choices around vendors, service partners, network carriers, configurations and locations.

Keys to Success

In addition to your technical skills and ability to serve as our ServiceNow guru, to excel in this role you will be driven and eager to stay on the cutting edge, learning everything you can about new developments in ITSM while expanding your skills on the newest ServiceNow releases. We’re looking for someone who is proactive, a strong communicator, and while you’ll primarily work independently you’ll also need the ability to work as part of a team when needed. You will be willing and able to check and document your own work, respond to issues, and ensure everything is running smoothly.

You’ll need to have a positive attitude and a strong work ethic to succeed in this dynamic role. The company is growing, so you’ll also need the flexibility to shift gears as needed to meet changing priorities. We value work/life balance and strive to promote a collaborative and enjoyable work environment.
