What's in It for You

Visible impact
This position will put you at the forefront of our efforts to make significant, measurable improvements to renewable energy sourcing and corporate environmental impact. The Senior Director, Sustainability, reports to the General Counsel, a member of executive leadership, so your successes will be noticed.

Professional development
In collaboration with the Senior Director, you will help shape this role, building on your strengths. Our goal is to provide you with a solid grounding in our business -- you won't work on a spreadsheet without a strong sense of the property it represents. Over time, depending on our needs and your performance, you may be able to take on additional responsibilities in sustainability.

Growth without limits
We merged with DuPont Fabros Technology (DFT), effective in September, accelerating our commitment to provide the most comprehensive set of data center solutions and expertise in the market. We now are able to support deployments ranging from single-cabinet colocation and interconnection to multi-megawatt to hyperscale. The combined company has an equity market cap of approximately $27 billion, and a total enterprise value of over $35 billion.

People-focused culture
We are a collaborative, people-focused group dedicated to quality and continuous improvement. When you join us, you receive our commitment to your continued development and support. We strive to promote a friendly, fun and open work environment, and our dedication to this is reflected in the tenure of our employees. People like it here and tend to stay.

Excellent compensation
In addition to a competitive wage and discretionary bonus potential, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes all you would expect plus some pleasant surprises, like multiple flexible spending plans, a generous company match on the 401(k) plan, and more.

Pictured: Thanks to dedicated Operations Teams, Digital Realty has achieved "five nines" of uptime performance for more than ten consecutive years. Exceeding 99.999 percent reliability year after year demonstrates our commitment to resiliency and efficiency.

Keys to Success

To excel in this role you will be highly motivated and have strong attention to detail while understanding how your work supports strategic objectives. You also should strike the right balance between deliberation and action -- you'll need to think things through, although at times you'll need to move forward even when you don't have all the information you'd like. Quick question for you - click here

The data you'll need may be dispersed in multiple locations, and a single project may require input from several different teams. You'll need the persistence to find out where the data sits, and then the interpersonal and influencing skills to get it from people who are busy with their own priorities. We take pride in meeting deadlines consistently. Often a single email won't be enough, so you'll need the initiative to pick up the phone or walk to someone's office. You may even need to drive to Santa Clara or Oakland to make a request in person.

In addition, in order to be an outstanding Energy & Sustainability Analyst, you will:
  • Act as an advocate for the priorities of the sustainability program
  • Achieve goals independently but also know when to ask for help
  • Bring a collaborative approach and develop relationships with contacts in different areas of Digital Realty
  • Translate data into actionable information easily understood by various audiences
  • Be proactive in identifying opportunities to improve upon “business as usual”
  • Continually develop an internal and external network of peers, experts, and advisors
  • Be comfortable working with non-US stakeholders and across global time zones
  • Remain flexible as priorities shift and the program continues to evolve
