To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. In addition, to be a good fit for the Collections Specialist opportunity, you will have:

  • Knowledge of accounts receivable and collections procedures
  • Commitment to excellent customer service
  • A strong goal orientation with the ability to prioritize and efficiently manage multiple responsibilities
  • Exceptional communication, attention to detail, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced proficiency and experience with Excel (e.g., accounting formulas, pivot table, VLOOKUP, etc.); experience with Oracle (preferred), SAP Business One or similar
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; a college degree or college coursework preferred  
Typically, you'll work a standard Monday-Friday day shift from 8 AM to 5 PM with the flexibility to do some evening work as needed.

Reporting to the Lead Supervisor, as Collections Specialist, you will be responsible for collection calls and correspondence in a fast-paced, goal-oriented collections department. You will provide customer service regarding collection issues, process customer refunds, process and review account adjustments, and resolve client discrepancies and short payments. You will work an assigned customer base - approximately 500 colocation customers - and be responsible for monitoring and keeping the accounts current through customer calls, account adjustments, small balance write off, customer reconciliations and processing credit notes.   • Reducing delinquency for assigned accounts
  • Doing weekly and monthly ledger reconciliations, aging review and reporting to supervisor
  • Enlisting the efforts of various internal groups to accelerate the collection process

  • Establishing and maintaining effective and cooperative working relationships with customers, asset managers and property operation teams

More About the Role
In addition to the responsibilities described under The Role tab, as part of your specific tasks, you will:
  • Be responsible for making a high volume of phone calls to assigned delinquent customers
  • Provide monthly delinquency notifications to Real Estate Management teams
  • Process monthly credit memos and gather appropriate documentation and approvals
  • Reconcile customer disputes as they pertain to the payment of outstanding balances due
  • Provide excellent and considerate customer service to external and internal customers
  • Participate in team planning meetings
  • Meet defined department goals and activity metrics
  • Perform other assigned tasks and duties necessary to support the accounts receivable department
Collection's workflow is split by account types -- colocation (smaller) and scale (large) customers. You will work with 4 other Collection Specialists on the colocation side in Dallas but also work with 5-6 billers and cash application people seated in Los Angeles and supporting scale customers.
