To meet the basic qualification for this role you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. To be a strong fit for the Security Operations Manager opportunity, you will also need:
  • 10+ years of security operations experience required, preferably in a corporate environment or government agency with mission-critical operations.  
  • Advanced knowledge of physical security operations, technical design and system trends.
  • A bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university (preferred), or law enforcement experience, or a U.S. military background with an honorable discharge, or a combination of both educational and relevant, job-related work experience.
  • Customer focus and experience working with top Fortune 100 customers.
  • Experience with security systems and software platforms required, preferably including Lenel, AMAG and/or Genetec.
  • Strong commitment to and understanding of security policies, rules and procedures; ability to influence, help write and roll-out future policies.
  • Must be computer literate and possess intermediate to advanced-level proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g. Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word). 
  • Prior experience with business continuity and emergency response planning and operations coordination preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with the use of quality and/or continuous improvement tools, techniques, practices, etc. preferred.
  • Data center operations, experience with managing large, multi-complex facilities and/or technology industry experience preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and the ability to travel locally as required. 
Just as important will be the following qualities and characteristics:
  • Self-driven, detail-oriented, with a bias for action.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation).
  • Advanced customer (internal/external) interfacing, problem-solving and relationship skills required.
  • A polished professional demeanor and commercial mindset.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and work solutions through to completion with absolute discretion and confidentiality when required.
  • Strong team player with a demonstrated track record and history of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and solving problems.
In addition, you must have the ability to work a flexible schedule as required. We operate 24/7/365. Overnight travel for training or to visit other sites may be required on rare occasions.

As Security Operations Manager, you will serve as a key member of the Portfolio Operations team and will be responsible for overseeing all site-level, campus-level security operations for your assigned properties. Duties will be comprehensive, from overseeing daily security operations to working with corporate security on long-range initiatives to interfacing directly with customers and more. You will administer the third-party security guard service contract, coordinate security technology infrastructure projects and ensure overall security compliance with Digital Realty’s policies and procedures and other regulatory and contractual requirements. Additionally, you will:

  • Drive operational and security compliance; create accountability through effective change management, leadership and innovation.   
  • Meet or exceed customer satisfaction KPIs as evidenced in feedback surveys, audit results, zero security breaches and policy violations.
  • Oversee third-party security vendor recruitment and training, ensuring third-party security guard firm complies with the service contract, KPIs and SLAs objectives including closely monitoring alarm response, building/grounds physical security protection, customer lease SLA requirements, effective crisis management, employee/customer safety, investigations, fire and life safety.
  • Establish an annual security operations plan for assigned properties on staffing, recruiting and retention, systems, infrastructure upgrades and maintenance, budget management and customer satisfaction. Set KPIs to measure and report on operational and systems performance.
  • Ensure all training requirements and/or annual company-sponsored security operational exercises, compliance requirements and audits are completed on-time.
  • Lead business continuity and emergency response planning and operations coordination.
  • Monitor and regulate security platform transactions, security vendor KPI’s and SLA’s in assigned territory; and develop corrective actions to address deficiencies.
  • Keep records and prepare accurate timely reports both manually and through automated methods.
  • Facilitate security equipment deployment projects as appropriate and assigned.
  • Support internal and external regulatory audits and certifications, customer/sales/corporate tours as needed.
  • Liaise with Digital Realty’s corporate Portfolio Security, other Digital departments, local fire and police officials, contractors and others to identify, analyze and solve problems and create opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Provide initial on-boarding and training for contracted security provider’s key supervisory staff (e.g. site lead, area managers) on technology, customer SLAs, site policy and procedures.
  • Coordinate with guard services provider to ensure consistent development of, and compliance with, post orders.
We are following stringent COVID-19 precautions and initially, you will work from home part-time and go into work part-time (2-3 days per week). Once it is safe, we will implement a responsible full-time return-to-work plan.
