You will work cross-functionally with your supervisor, internal teams and external vendors to deliver Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) cost estimates for a range of customer white space-specific builds within Digital Realty Data Centers in the U.S. and across the globe. Most projects originate with the Sales Engineering team that works directly with customers. Engineers will be given the scope of work -- footprint, design, timelines, etc. -- which they will provide to estimating via a written description, Visio diagram, CAD drawing, PDF, etc. Quick question for you - click here You will build your estimates based on that information and data that you'll gather, including labor and materials costs already uploaded in our system. Demand for estimates will have peaks and downtimes, so you could be working on 2-3 estimates or managing a pipeline with 9 or 10 in the queue. Your specific tasks will include:
  • Focusing on data analytics and management of internal cost estimating databases
  • Evaluating and detailing specific business requirements for what DLR needs to meet as part of data center white space fit-out
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to determine how customer-specific requests impact our pricing strategy
  • Participating in cross-functional coordination calls with Sales Engineering, Technical Solution Managers, Portfolio Management and Property Operations teams to align DLR's approach to each new pricing request
  • Project planning, analyzing costs, delivering alternate pricing
  • Identifying, tracking and managing project-specific pricing requests to enable DLR’s tracking of our customer requirements
  • Performing budget vs spend analysis for installations already completed and ROI analysis for pending installations
  • Managing the pipeline of pricing requests as required by priority
  • Providing data management & reporting
  • Ensuring that the highest quality standards are met, including the timely turnaround and delivery of estimates
  • Upgrade and revise the system as time allows (i.e. during downtimes)
  • Other responsibilities as assigned and needed
You'll know you're hitting the mark when you are meeting the scope of work in a timely manner and within a consistent margin.
