To be a good fit for the Data Center Technician II opportunity, you will have:
  • 1+ years of technical experience in a data center or telecom environment.
  • Exceptional customer-facing skills and the ability to deliver on high customer expectations. Quick question for you - click here
  • Experience working with carriers.
  • An understanding of telecom structured cabling standards (fiber, copper, DS3, T1, RJ45, Cat5/Cat6, etc.).
  • An understanding of network device deployment.
  • The ability to use industry-standard test equipment.
  • Troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
  • A commitment to quality and the motivation and ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Professional business communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer.
Preferred but not required:
  • General knowledge of AC/DC electrical theory.
  • An understanding of building management systems (BMS) and branch circuit monitoring systems (BCMS).
  • Effective organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office applications (Access, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, Explorer) and/or equivalents.
You will start off training on the day shift, which may last about six months. Following that, you'll work a mid-shift Monday through Friday from 10:30 AM to 7:30 PM. In addition, you will participate in an after-hours on-call rotation every third week, including weekends.

Reporting to the Remote Hands Service Manager, you will join a growing team of technicians and assist all Digital Realty customers by providing best-in-class customer and technical support. This will include working with and supporting all customer demands, such as racking and stacking of equipment, cabling, cross connects, etc. Your primary responsibility will be responding to customer requests within the service level agreement time frame. Quick question for you - click here

Some projects will last a few days while others may be completed in a couple of hours. More specifically, you will:
  • Perform Remote Hands services which are tracked through the Digital Realty ticketing system. This includes, but is not limited to, the following services:
    • Equipment rack and stack.
    • Cable, terminate, and dress fiber or copper network cabling.
    • Assist customers with the diagnosis of hardware and software issues on their equipment.
    • Power cycling of customer equipment.
    • Blade/card, memory, hard drive, and transceiver installations or removal.
    • Testing and troubleshooting of copper and fiber optic circuits.
  • Perform cabinet/cage audits.
  • Perform migrations of equipment, power, or networking devices.
  • Ship and receive packages.
  • And more.
