We are adding positions and are currently hiring for our 3rd shift - 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM. We're looking for technicians with the flexibility to cover other shifts as needed for vacations, on-call responsibilities, etc. Flexibility is key. ​You will train on the first shift from 9 AM to 5 PM for approximately a month, then continue your training on the 3rd shift.

To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. In addition, to qualify for the Data Center / Telecom Technician II opportunity, you will have:

  • Experience using industry standard test equipment
  • Experience with troubleshooting and root cause analysis

You will join the Data Center Services (DCS) team providing remote hands services at designated Digital Realty locations. As a Technician on the DCS Team in Ashburn, you will be responsible for installing and troubleshooting circuits and other equipment, tracking service requests from receipt to resolution, answering external and internal inquiries, and assisting with work and projects. 

Internally, you may work with the Deployment and Implementation teams, the Global Command Center, Provisioning team and Project Management to ensure relevant installations meet delivery dates and create a positive customer experience. As Technician II, you will primarily be responsible for responding to customer requests within the Service Level Agreement time frame.  You will also assist other members of the Operations team ensuring 100% uptime to all customers. More specifically, you will perform remote hands services that are tracked through the Digital Realty ticketing system. This includes, but is not limited to the following services:

  • Equipment rack and stack
  • Cable, terminate, and dress fiber or copper network cabling
  • Assist customers with the diagnosis of hardware and software issues on their equipment
  • Power cycling of customer equipment
  • Perform cabinet/cage audits
  • Blade/Card, memory, hard drive, and transceiver installations or removal
  • Test and troubleshoot of copper and fiber optic circuits
  • Perform migrations of equipment, power, or networking devices
  • Shipping and receiving of packages
  • Receive, install, and test customer and internal cross-connects of copper and fiber optic interconnections
  • Use of power and hand tools (e.g., screwdrivers, drills, wire strippers, punch down tools, etc.)
  • Provide timely customer and internal updates using a computer-based ticketing system
  • Perform and document inventory verification/counts
  • Adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Assist to maintain overall Data Center cleanliness and appearance
  • Work flexible shift schedules
  • Report to the facility within a 1-hour average for emergency assistance as needed
