Collins, one of the data centers you'll support, has approximately 60,000 sq. ft. of raised floor space and 6.75 MW of IT load. Electrical service to Digital Dallas is distributed via a dedicated, privately owned substation capable of delivering up to 100 MW of power.

To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. In addition, to be a good fit for the Lead Facility Engineer opportunity, you will have:

• Facility engineering experience in data centers, including experience working with mission critical equipment.

Pictured: Also located on the Digital Dallas campus is the other data center you'll support, 900 Quality Way. The building features 6,675 kW of IT load and has over 60,000 square feet of raised floor area. Telecomm service is provided by nine different fiber providers currently located in the park.

You will support the Chief Engineer and Manager of Facility Engineering (MFE), working with nine other Engineers to ensure coverage 365 days per year, 7 days per week, 24 hours per day. You’ll spend most of your days on a variety of interesting activities, including walking the facility and inspecting infrastructure systems, performing routine maintenance, supervising the facility, assessing needs, monitoring construction projects, and completing repairs as needed. • A trade license or certification acquired through technical education/training.

You will work the day shift Monday through Friday, but we'll also look to you to be willing to work the 2nd or 3rd shift, at least one weekend day each week, and unscheduled overtime as needed to complete projects or break-fixes.

More about the Role
In addition to the responsibilities described under The Role tab, specific responsibilities will include:

• Monitoring building infrastructure systems.
• Troubleshooting and repairing building infrastructure systems, HVAC system, electrical systems, and more.
• Performing preventive maintenance on all building equipment.
• Assembling and commissioning Data Center equipment.
• Preparing change management forms and methods of procedure (MOPs).
• Scheduling maintenance procedures with vendors.
• Ensuring compliance with all safety procedures and use of protective equipment.
• Responding quickly to emergency situations (fire, evacuation, equipment failure etc.) and customer concerns as needed.

The service you provide will be to the underlying support systems (power, cooling, etc.) for customers’ computers, so you will not be expected to do any computer maintenance -- the customers do that for themselves.

More about your success
This is a hands-on role in which you also will provide guidance and mentoring to others. To excel in it, you will need an understanding of HVAC, electrical, large chillers, generators, cooling towers, UPS systems, large batteries, and more. You may be in front of customers, so you’ll need to be able to present yourself well and have great communication skills. You'll also complete certain reports, so in addition to being able to gather information, you’ll need computer proficiency to create and update reports in Word and Excel.
